Franciscan Leadership: Serving, Learning, Leading

Welcome to Viterbo University and La Crosse, Wis., for the 2012 Association of Franciscan Colleges and Universities Summer Symposium. In the spirit of St. Francis of Assisi, participants will explore the ways in which we are called to serve the communities in which we live and work, learn together about our communities and their needs, and prepare to lead for the sake of the common good.

The symposium will feature keynote speakers Kent Keith, CEO of the Greenleaf Center for Servant Leadership; Aurelie Hagstrom, Associate Professor of Theology at Providence College; and Tom Thibodeau, Director of the Master of Arts in Servant Leadership at Viterbo University. In addition to the usual assortment of conference sessions, this year’s events will feature a special undergraduate student track.

Located next to campus are the Franciscan Sisters of Perpetual Adoration, Viterbo’s founders and sponsors. Viterbo’s proud Franciscan heritage is prevalent throughout campus, as evidenced by the university’s ethics-infused curriculum, a vibrant and welcoming faith community and campus ministry program, a service requirement for students, and the excellent speakers and programming brought to campus by the D.B. Reinhart Institute for Ethics in Leadership.

La Crosse is serviced by Delta and American Airlines and Amtrak. The Viterbo campus is located within blocks of downtown and easily accessed from Interstate 90. Ample choices of riverside hotels and campus accommodations are available.
